Offering by-products is very important to us since we place a large emphasis on recycling in our industry. We also take into consideration that customers may want to purchase these by-products. These by-products include skims, dross, and zinc/iron sulfate crystals which can all be recycled and used again! Let’s break these three down further:
Crystals
Zinc sulfate and iron sulfate crystals are dissolved solids extracted from our cleaning tanks which can be used to produce fertilizer. We can also customize different blends to meet your needs.
Skims
Skims are the zinc rich oxidation layer that is formed on the top of the kettle after hot-dip galvanization. This residue layer is skimmed off the top of the kettle and recast into raw zinc, which can be reused in the galvanization process, or made into fertilizers.
Dross
Dross is made up of loose particles of steel/iron that react with the molten zinc.
